TEAM PINK LADIES

Yasmeen Abdullah

My name is Yasmeen Abdullah and I am 15 years old. I go to an arts high school where I learn film and theatre. I started dancing when I was six years old and became interested in singing at the age of 12. For me, listening to music is like telling a story.  Singing expresses how I am feeling at the time.  I plan to attend college and study Forensic Science. I am also interested in pursuing a career as a mental health counselor for high school students.

Imani Crenshaw

My name is Imani Crenshaw and I was born in Los Angeles, California. I recently graduated form West High school in Torrance. I will be attending El Camino College in the fall, and I’m planning on majoring in Broadcast Journalism and Communications. My hobbies include sports, specifically softball and cheerleading! I also enjoy swimming, dancing, traveling and horseback riding. I’m looking forward to making many connections with all the GlobalGirl staff and becoming a stronger more confidant journalist!

Wendy Garcia

My name is Wendy Garcia and I am a rising high school senior. I was raised in Downtown Los Angeles by two Mexican-born parents, which proudly makes me a Chicana. I love watching movies, and taking pictures because as everyone says, a picture tells a thousand words. Filming is one of the things I enjoy doing because it’s fun. Even though acting and filmmaking used to be just hobbies, I grew passionate about them. I want to have a career in FBI: Behavior Analysis. Media, Theatre and the FBI are my main focuses. I am a member of the club Pulse where I am free to express myself through the arts. I am also part of the Community Awareness Club where I’m exposed to scholarships and promote undocumented student rights.  I have been part of Immaculate Conception Church, a Roman Catholic Church, since I was five years old and since then I’ve participated in choir and a youth group called “Angeles De La Immaculada.” My biggest dream is to do a musical or a movie where I get to sing, dance and act. Through GlobalGirl Media, I hope to share the struggles of millions of girls like me, who want to break the patriarchal culture, want to stop discrimination against real women who have curves, and who want to have women’s voices heard.

Denise Peralta

My name is Denise Peralta and I was born in Los Angeles, California.  I am currently 16 years old and have completed my sophomore year of high school. I was part of the basketball team my sophomore year and now I have joined the cheer squad. I enjoy being active and trying new things, for the sake of having an idea of what I want in the future. I am a girl that enjoys reading, dancing, playing sports and interacting with friends. My goals are to attend a four-year University and earn a degree in Forensic Psychology. I hope to achieve my goals by continuing to be a high honor roll student, with a 4.05 GPA. I am someone who does not settle for less, therefore, I continue to search for a variety of things to do and learn from – especially from GlobalGirl Media.
