Girls Sizzle for Citizen Journalism

Today an online video saved my life.I woke up this morning feeling overworked, frustrated, tired, hopeless, and full of complaints – not a good way for someone who’s supposed to inspire people to take social action to start the day. Luckily, just as I was about to throw my pillow over my head again, my daily social change Google alerts landed in my inbox, and I caught word of the extraordinary work GlobalGirl Media is doing to cultivate young female citizen journalists around the world. After watching the group’s new sizzle reel, which highlights journalism training for girls in low-income and inner city neighborhoods, I was reminded of why I became a journalist in the first place – to spread awareness about underreported issues and to instigate change.
