On the 4th of July 2011 (Monday) Deputy Feature Editor, Shanthini Naidoo , took the GGM girls on a tour around the offices of The Times to see how the construction and the function of the paper had an impact on the people of South Africa and elsewhere.
The Sunday Times is a paper which is 104 years old and it is meant for readers who want to know more about their country and what happens in it. The job of the paper is to send out information, to entertain and to educate people. The paper highlights news in the country to let the government know what is going on everyday.
The Sunday Times news paper produces 3.4 million papers a week.” Go out and find information, it won’t come to you”, said Shanthini Naidoo. It is important to find relevant information to keep you at the top of your game!
Journalists have meetings every morning at 9:00am to summarize and brainstorm ideas for The Times. The Sunday Times is a weekly paper, whereas The Times is a daily paper. The most important team which works every minute and concentrates on the paper are the sports, photographic, news and feature editors.
The Sunday Times is the largest selling paper on the continent and is very valuable to the citizens of The Republic of South Africa.
