When A Team Loses

0

As I watched the Uruguay and Ghana game on Friday. I was shocked and almost deaf because my sister-in-law kept screaming right next to me.  W couldn't believe what had just happened. I couldn't believe that # 29 from the Uruguayan team had actually blocked the Goal that Ghana was about to make, with his hand! It was soccer and then it turned into volleyball for a moment-- I was completely confused!

I think it was unfair that- One: the referee didn't count that shot as a goal when I think it should have been valued, and Two: that Uruguay won the game. It's not that I'm not happy that one of our Latin countries got into the semi-finals, but I think that Ghana should have been the one to go on.

I have to admit that Ghana did get a shot to redeem themselves, and they missed it.
And the player from the Uruguayan team did get suspended from the game... but I still feel that Ghana deserved to go to the semi-finals.

When I watched the game, I felt really bad for the players on the Ghana team that had lost. I felt really connected to them, even though I was watching the game through a T.V.  I think it's really sad that once the team loses, they have to go back to their countries, and that when you arrive in your country, your people mock you. Well, that's what I think happens when a loser team goes back home. I think the World Cup should at least give them something for their hard work, like a gift basket or something, because it's really sad that some teams are unrightfully disqualified, like the Ghana team.

I understand that the World Cup is a sports event where countries compete to see who's the best soccer team in the world, but I think that the competition should be a little more understanding when it comes to a team losing.
