" Soccer is an easy sport to play, all you need is some type of circular object, most preferably a ball, two trash cans as goal posts, and a bunch of people who can kick a ball." Those were the worlds of a Garfield High School teacher. Soccer is such an easy sport many people play it and enjoy it. But what happens when you get hurt... now is it as easy as they say?
Many soccer players through the years have suffered from painful injuries such as: ankle sprains and achilles tendonitis.
Many of the most famous soccer players have been victims of these injuries like David Beckham of Manchester United. He was forced out of this year's World Cup precisely because of a terrible injury: his achilles tendon snapped! Oww...
Even one of our global girls has got injured while playing soccer.
Maria was being trained to be a soccer player. She really enjoyed it and was a good player. She played for a Chivas USA Club. The teams were mixed, girls and boys, divided by ages. Maria went to practice one Saturday morning and was put on a mixed team with only three girls; the rest were guys. Maria was practicing when all of a sudden she was hit by a team player, hard -- his knee slammed into her knee. At that moment she didn't feel much pain because her body was warmed up. After practice, however, she began to feel extreme pain in her right knee. She tried to ignore the pain but she couldn't play anymore. The pain continued and still occurs, especially during the winter. Even after this unfortunate event, soccer continues to be one of her favorite sports -- only now she's on the sidelines, reporting!
Soccer, might sound easy but in reality it can be risky for the players.
REMEMBER: when you play soccer have fun but be careful because... OUCH!...THAT HURTS!
