Conference Call with Seth Meyers for the ESPY Awards

When Katie told me I was going to be in on a conference call with Seth Meyers I couldn't believe it. It was definitely an honor. Seth Meyers will be the 2010 host for the ESPN Awards: The ESPY's. I feel lucky that I'm going to report on this event for Global Girl.

The conference call was early in the morning (10:30 a.m) but I was told to call in at 10 a.m and to have a question prepared. I had never had a conference call with anyone and when they asked me to prepare a question I was even more nervous because I had no idea what exactly we were going to be talking about. Patricia had helped me prepare a few questions the night before at HQ. So it's 10a.m and I call. They transfer me to the conference call. That transfer took about 20 minutes. The smooth music calmed my nerves as I waited, trying to decide which question I would ask -- that's if someone else didn't ask it first...

The conference call finally began. I listened patiently as a woman called out the name of the person who would go next. About half of the questions I wanted to ask were asked bu the time she got to me -- except for one I knew would be funny. When she said "Brenda Solis from GlobalGirlMedia" I thought "Olie that's me!" I said good morning and then asked my question: "What was your worst athletic moment and how old were you?" He said his worst athletic moment was when he tried out for his high school's baseball team. He was next up to bat; hit a foul ball and it smashed into his dad's car! He didn't make the baseball team and he had to explain to his father how that dent came to be :lol: .

It was a pretty fast conference call and when it was over I felt really good because I was able to make him laugh and break the ice. It's times like these when I feel lucky to be a Global Girl because when else would I have been able to be on a conference call with Seth Meyers?
